This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use BackupOnCall ("we," "our," or "us"), our AI-powered call answering service.
Information We Collect
When a caller contacts a business using BackupOnCall, our system may collect:
- Caller name
- Caller phone number
- Reason for calling
- Call recording and transcript
- Date and time of the call
When a business signs up for BackupOnCall, we collect:
- Business name and contact information
- Email address
- Mobile number for notifications
- Billing information (processed securely through our payment provider)
How We Use Information
Caller information is used solely to:
- Deliver call summaries and notifications to the business client
- Send optional booking links or follow-up messages when a caller has provided verbal consent during the call
- Maintain records for the business client's operational use
We do not use caller information for marketing purposes. We do not sell caller information to third parties.
SMS Messaging
BackupOnCall may send SMS messages in two cases:
- To business clients: Real-time call alert notifications sent to the mobile number provided during account setup.
- To callers: Booking links sent only when the caller has given verbal consent during an AI-handled call.
Message and data rates may apply. To opt out of SMS notifications, reply STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third party/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We may share information with service providers who help us operate BackupOnCall (such as telephony, cloud storage, and email delivery providers) under confidentiality agreements.
Data Retention
Call records and transcripts are retained for as long as a business client maintains an active account. Upon account cancellation, data may be retained for up to 90 days before deletion.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
